As the proprietor of Southern Cross Surveying, LLC, Clayton Lynch brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. His educational background includes a B.S. in Geomatics from Troy University, and he is a Licensed Professional Surveyor in the State of Alabama.
Clayton's journey began at Botts and Ray Inc., where he honed his skills in conducting extensive boundary surveys and gained a strong footing in intricate drafting detail and design. After graduating, he returned to the Birmingham area to embark on his career in the land surveying and land development industry.
Through the years, Clayton has garnered immense knowledge in land surveying, serving as a survey manager for several firms and conducting field operations with Aerotec aerial surveying using LIDAR and imagery across the nation. His wide-ranging experience includes residential and commercial building, forming, framing, and finishing development sites, and he has held roles as superintendent and foreman for structural layout and commercial hardscapes. His diverse experience equips him to view a project from various perspectives, enabling the achievement of project goals.
J. Lance Buffkin
Lance Buffkin, a long-serving field technician for Clayton, is a proficient field equipment operator. He's also making strides as a drafting technician. Lance has demonstrated his versatility in various roles, including construction staking, boundary surveying, topographic surveying, and more.
Over his career, Lance has been a foreman for concrete hardscapes and a crew chief for several land survey firms. His admirable work ethic, versatility, and dedication make him the "go-to man" and a pivotal member of Southern Cross.
J. Kyle Thomas
Kyle Thomas is a seasoned surveyor in central Alabama with over a decade of experience in the surveying field. He has a diverse background in several types of surveys and a comprehensive understanding of project completion requirements.
Kyle has been instrumental in numerous pipeline projects stretching over 100 miles, in addition to countless construction stakeout & boundary surveys. His prowess with traditional survey equipment, modern GPS, and robotic equipment is a true testament to his skills. His relentless work ethic and robust problem-solving skills make him an invaluable member of the Southern Cross team.
